As a clinical mental health counselor, I am often asked for tips, tricks, strategies on how to help the individual sitting across from me heal.  I think that all of us at some point in our lives have wished that we had a magic wand which we could wave that would heal ourselves or someone we love.  In a sense, there is this magical wand.  But it’s not physical, you can’t see it with your eyes, it can’t be bought at a store.  While we can experience some transference of it from others, it is something that is inherently unique to each and everyone of us.  This wand could also be known as “self-love.” It is the love that we have for ourselves which melts the pain, trauma, and low self-worth, which has been hardened like ice into a limited concept of who we are and what we deserve.  Self-love is the most powerful healing love.
